Dental insurance FAQ

Is there a waiting period on Ameritas PrimeStar dental plans?

No. PrimeStar Lite, Boost and Complete have no waiting periods on preventive, basic or major dental work. Coverage can start as soon as the next day after you enroll.

What is the highest annual maximum?

PrimeStar Complete has an annual maximum of $2,000 in year one, increasing to $3,500 after your first year.

Can I keep my own dentist?

Yes. You can see any dentist, in or out of network. Network dentists have agreed to charge 25–50% less, so your money goes further there.

Does dental insurance cover implants?

PrimeStar Boost and Complete include implant coverage with no waiting period. On Complete, the implant benefit is up to $1,000 in year one and $1,500 after.

Does Medicare cover dental?

Original Medicare does not cover routine dental care like cleanings, fillings, crowns or dentures. An individual dental plan can fill that gap.

Do cleanings count against my annual maximum?

Not on PrimeStar. With Preventive Plus, covered preventive care does not count against your annual maximum, leaving more for bigger work.

What is the deductible?

$50 per person for basic and major services. Preventive care has no deductible.

Is there an enrollment fee?

No. There are no enrollment fees.

Are these plans available in every state?

Plans, costs and availability vary by state, and PrimeStar is not available in every state. Enter your ZIP code on the enrollment page to see what is offered where you live.

Can I get dental and vision together?

Yes. You can shop dental and vision coverage together online, side by side.
